Edward “E.J.” Kirn is the Head Goalkeeper coach and assistant coach for Benedictine University in Naperville.

E.J has been with Big Cat Goalkeeping since 2015 at first as an apprentice coach and now as head coach.

Prior to Benedictine, Kirn served as assistant women’s soccer coach for Joliet Junior College where he helped guide the Wolves to a NJCAA playoff berth in 2016. Kirn also has five years of experience at the youth and high school club levels at Legacy SC and was recently promoted to the position of associate director of coaching.

E.J.’s playing background includes youth club experiences with the Chicago Magic and Lemont Raiders. In 2012, Kirn was named Most Valuable Goalkeeper while leading Andrew High School to its first ever Reavis Cup championship. Kirn also played at NCAA Division II University of Illinois Springfield. After suffering a career ending injury, E.J focused purely on player development and we are delighted to have him on staff.

Kirn has earned a National “D” License from the United States Soccer Federation and a Goalkeeping Diploma from the United Soccer Coaches Association.
